The Living Bread
Here in Israel, we have been experiencing a drought for the past six or seven years.  We have had some rains and are truly grateful for them, but not enough to maintain the water level needed in the Sea of Galilee.  The water level has dropped below the danger line and still water is pumped out to go to the south of Israel.  This is very significant as the Sea of Galilee is one third of Israel’s water supply.  We see also a great spiritual drought here in Israel.  There are many believers in many congregations, but we sense a lack of real unity.  When we look in the Word of God, we see that even those who were not serving God and had their own agenda, but were in unity accomplished much.  “And they said, ‘Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name; lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.’   And the Lord said, ‘Behold they are one people, and they all have the same language.  And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them.’”  Genesis 11:4,6  Psalm 133 says, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!  It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes.  It is like the dew of Hermon, coming down upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commands the blessing, life forever.”  Acts 2:1 “When the Day of Pentecost (Shavuot) had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”  Reading the rest of that chapter tells us of the power we receive when we are in unity in the Spirit of the Lord.  God commands a blessing and God gives power when we are in unity.  Let us pray for and seek unity in the body of Messiah.
About us
We were blessed to have Denice Barry volunteering with us the month of August.  Probably not an ideal time in the Galilee, because we experienced some severely hot days, but survived.  We also were blessed to host our grandson, Robert Toohey from Austin, Texas for ten days.  It was a joy to have both of them.
Outreach to Pensioners
In August we delivered food vouchers to fourteen pensioners, and gave cash to three.  We also paid a past due electric bill for a South Lebanese family.  The father is disabled and two of the children have learning disabilities.  We continue to assist one of the club directors with transportation to the new club and give a stipend to a helper who assists with art projects and whatever is needed in two of the clubs.
Other Assistance
We were asked to assist in purchasing a refrigerator for a family in Qatzrin whose house burned.  We asked the Lord what He wanted us to do as this is above what we have budgeted.  Within a few days, monies came in from unexpected sources and we were able to meet this need.
Druz Believers
The persecution of the Druz believers does not let up, but God continues to draw more and more of them to Himself.  A group of men tried to burn Fike’s car, but God sent someone whose presence caused them to stop.  Another group came to his house and threatened his son with a knife.  Fike had to take the knife from them, and endure cursing and demeaning harassing, but God gave him strength and His peace.
Beit Shalom
In July we hosted guests from France, Ghana, Germany, Holland, Israel, Peru, Rumania, Russia, South Africa, UK, and USA.
Morning Star
The congregation continues to pray and fast for the nation of Israel and for obtaining the permits needed to continue work on the building.
Your prayers and support sustain us and we are so grateful to the Lord for each of you.  Please continue to pray for us that we will follow His leadership in serving Him here in Israel.
